Vicchiomaggio i 2002 blev tildelt den fornemme titel ''Italien Wine Maker of the year.fik også prisen i 2005

Maturation: In small oak barrels for 18-24 months.

The Tuscan Pearl! The most full bodied wine in the Vicchiomaggio range. All the vines are over 20 years old and strictly pruned, ensuring that yields are extremely low. A big yet elegant wine with pepper, spices and sweet fruit. Full boadied and vibrant when released, will mature over many years and become deep and complex. Limited production ensures that this wine will always be a much sought rarity!

Maturation: In large oak barrels and barriques (225Lt), for 15 months, followed by a minimum of 6 months in bottle.

Tradition and a little innovation combine to produce a wine of excellent structure with pure fruit tastes balanced by the richness of the oak. The vineyard is over 20 years old with very low yields and excellent grape quality, thus ensuring power and very good ageing potential. The wine can be drunk when released or matured further for several years.

90% Sangiovese, 5% Canaiolo, 5% Colorino

Maturation: 7 months in medium sized oak casks 25-75 hl., followed by a minimum of 4 months in bottle.

A traditional grape mix, producing a well-structured fruit driven wine with a deep attractive color, the use of large oak barrels ensures a classic style. Vibrant red colors. Ripe, fruity wine, with balancing acidity. Sweet black cherry flavors, with a soft touch of tannins, giving a juicy, but dry wine. Lovely, easy wine, full of fruit, with just a hint of spice. The name of the vineyard is taken from an historical house on the estate.

Super Tuscan – special selection!

Maturation: Sangiovese matured in large oak barrels, Cabernet in Barriques (225Lt), both for 12 months. Followed by a minimum of 3 months in bottle

A very accessible and innovative Super Tuscan, quite a lot of Cabernet which suggests a good potential for ageing, however the Sangiovese predominates and the wine is ready for drinking when released. The bright, red color and bouquet bursting with ripe, red fruits lead on to a wine that has concentration and acidity but also forwardness, liveliness and freshness that demands to be drunk. The very attractive label depicting a Tuscan landscape is by renowned local artist Nino Tirinnanzi.

A fresh, creamy white wine with a citrus zing and soft fruit. This is an ideal food wine, its touch of wood and hints of spice and toast balance the broad greengage and lime flavour.

John Matta (Italian Wine Maker of the Year IWSC 2002 *) who loves red wine decided to develop a specific style from his Tuscan Castello Vicchiomaggio estate. Work on the wine started at the end of 2002 and the definitive blend was decided upon in December 2004 using Sangiovese with 30% Canaiolo. Sangiovese, Tuscany’s powerful red grape, with the addition of Canaiolo is fruiter and easier to drink, ideal with fish. An innovative wine deserves special packaging, an eye catching contemporary design using relief effects was chosen. The project was developed by John and his daughter Delfina (DelfinaDesign*), the resulting label will be noticed and easily remembered.

these characteristics can be best enjoyed. The name of the vineyard is taken from an historical house on the estate

Very traditional grape varieties from low yielding vines over 35 years old, ensure that the production of this wine is never more than about 12,000 bottles, it will always be a rarity. Powerful and concentrated with flavours of ripe red fruits underlined by soft toast, spice and herbs. Very drinkable when released, will continue to improve for years and is a firm favourite with collectors of rare wines.
